I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916

Chet was 10 years old and he felt terror. He thought something was watching him. He saw a large grey fin slicing through the water. A shark was by him. Chet was pounding and kicking the water to shore and he made it.

Charles Vansant was attacked by a shark in chest deep water when he and his family were on vacation. Mr. Vansant was swimming when a black fin started swimming at himand he got brutally attacked. He barely got to shore.

A captain's ship sunk but he got onto a barrel and the other men died. The shark got closer and dove for the second. Something bumped him in the leg. The shark drew blood. So he grabbed a harpoon point and stabbed it and scared it off.

Chet saw a triangular thing coming toward Dewey. A huge splash appeared and Dewey was gone. He came up sputtering. Sid and Monty came up with a fake fin and said we got you!

Charles Bruder was swimming alone and he got bit and bled to death. Lifeguards were to late to save him.

Sid, Monty, and Chet heard a story about about a monster in Devil Creek. They went to the creek and they saw the monsters head and Chet said I got you.

Something hit Chet in the chest, he looks down and he is bleeding. He sees a grey fin. He is in shock. He can't move.

Sid was paralyzed in the water. The shark gets closer. Chet saves Sid and Chet gets bit in the leg and his friends pull him up.

I rate this a 5/5 star book.

Who is Jane Goodall nonfiction by:Roberta Edwards

Could you live in the African jungle surrounded  by dangerous animals to study what you love? Jane Goodall could. When Jane was a very little girl her dad gave her a toy chimpanzee and she loved it! She loved to play outside and loved looking at the world around her. When she was almost 23 one of her old school friends, Clo, invited her to Africa. She was very excited and once she was there, she loved it so much but she didn't want to overstay her welcome. She knew she had to find a job in Africa. She ended up working in Kenya for a famous scientist named Louis Leaky. Everyday she went out in the jungle and watched the chimps and even if they saw her they accepted her. Louis Leaky helped Jane to begin her life's work, studying chimps. For a long time Jane lived in the jungle with her cook and her mother. She would go out and study the chimps everyday. She learned that they had different personalities and communicated with each other she even named them: Flo, Figan, Fifi, Faben, but her very favorite was David Graybeard. He taught her the most. In 1963, National Geographic Magazine sent a photographer named Hugo Van Lawick. He and Jane fell in love and got married. Jane became world famous and they were divorced 1 year later. Jane continued to develop programs to take care of chimps. Today, Jane still has a house in Africa and travels year round talking about her work. Pick up the book Who is Jane Goodall if you want to learn more amazing facts about Jane and her chimp discoveries. My favorite part of the book is when a baby chimp is born because it helps keep up the population of the chimps. I would give this book a 9 and a half because it is so exciting and interesting.

Flora & Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo

The book I read for this book review is called Flora & Ulysses. The author of this book is Kate DiCamillo. This is a fiction book.

Have you ever wanted a pet squirrel that could fly and understand your words? Ulysses was a squirrel that can do thing that no other squirrel can.. He can even type. Flora is another main character. Flora and Ulysses are best friends in this book.

This story begins when a vacuum cleaner in Flora's neighbors yard sucks up Ulysses. Luckily, Flora saved him. Flora brought Ulysses  to her mom's house. Flora's parents are divorced.

One day,Flora asked Ulysses if he understood her. He nodded yes. A couple of days later, Flora and Ulysses went to a bakery with Flora's dad . The waitress came to ask what they wanted but when the waitress  saw a box on the table and decided to open it. Ulysses jumped into the waitress' hair. The waitress called the cook and the cook tried to kill Ulysses with a big knife. Ulysses flew out of the restaurant with Flora and her father.

A couple days later,Flora woke up and Ulysses was gone! Will Flora find her squirrel friend or not? Read this book to find out.

My favorite part of the book was when Ulysses was in the waitress' hair because it was funny. That part also made me think how crazy it would be to bring a squirrel to a bakery.

I would rate this book a five out of five because it makes you feel like you are on an adventure throughout the whole book. I could not put it down!

The Treehouse series, Dolphins at Daybreak By Mary Pope Osborne

Do you like traveling to new places and learning new things? Well if  you do, Magic Treehouse is the book for you! I read Dolphins at Daybreak by Mary Pope Osborne, it's all about Jack and Annie, the two main characters, going on and adventure. It is a fiction  book, one of the best ones I've ever read. I like it because it tells all the details, and is funny and very interesting. Its interesting because Jack and Annie go under water and see all kinds of, squids, sharks, and dolphins. I think my favorite part is when Jack and Annie swim away from the sharks, and the dolphins come and let them ride on there back. Once they come on shore they need to solve a riddle to become master librarians. It is a great book and I'd rate this 10 out of 10!

The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

Would you go on an adventure with  your friends to help save something? Well, in the fiction book The Sea of Monsters written by Rick Riordan that is what exactly happens to Percy and his friends. When Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood he finds out things are not the same as last summer. The camp was dying. So Percy, Annabeth, Tyson, and Clarisse go in search of the Golden Fleece which can help save the camp. On the adventure they meet pirates, sirens, a sorceress and a Cyclops. Percy also  finds out some information about himself during the quest. My favorite part of the book is the battle against Polyphemus the Cyclops because Percy is able to save Grover and Clarisse plus the battle itself was pretty cool. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 because of all the different monster they meet on the way. Do they save Camp Half-Blood? Well, you will just need the book to find out.

I read a fiction book Sisters by Raina Telgemeier. When you were little, did you want a baby brother or sister to be born?

Raina wanted a baby girl. Raina's mom ended up having a baby girl and named her Amara. When Amara got older, their mom had a baby boy and named him Will. When the family grew older, Amara, Will, Raina, and their mom went on a road trip to Colorado to visit their aunts, uncles, and cousins. Their dad was going to take a plane and meet them there because he would drive the mother crazy. On the way to Colorado, there was a lot of fighting going on between Raina, Amara, and Will. They had also found out that when the dad stayed home and later took a plane, he had lost his job. When they got there, the cousins were a lot different than Will, Amara, and Raina. Before they left, Raina asked her cousin Lindsay to give her tips for high school. She did and all their cousins said she will do fine. Then it was time for their family to leave. The dad took the plane home. When they returned home, Raina began high school. The family felt that she needed her own space so she got her own room, Will and Amara shared a room, and the parents slept in the living room.Did their dad ever find a new job? Find out by reading Sisters.

My favorite part of the book is when Amara is born because at first Raina gets all excited. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars because good days didn't always come for them.
